Privacy policy
Last updated: 8 October 2026.
Oldie is made by Situated Strategies LLC ("we"). This policy explains what information the Oldie app and this website collect, why, and what your choices are. Questions go to help@myoldie.com.
What the app collects
- Account: your email address and the name you enter, plus a sign-in identifier from Apple or Google if you use those.
- Household and pet records: the household name, its members, and everything you record about your dogs: names, birthdays, photos, medications, care tasks, vaccines and certificate photos, weights, notes, and the history of who marked what done.
- Notifications: a device push token so reminders can reach your phone, and your notification preferences.
- Purchase status: whether your household has bought Remove ads, or holds an earlier Oldie Household subscription, provided by our purchase processor. We never see your card details.
- Advertising identifier: on Android, unless your household has bought Remove ads, the advertising identifier of your device and basic information about your device and the app, used by Google to show and measure ads. See "Advertising in the app" below.
- Diagnostics: crash reports and basic usage counts that do not identify you.
How we use it
To run the app: showing your household its shared records, sending reminders to the right people, delivering birthday letters, and unlocking paid features. We do not sell your information. Your dog's records are never used for advertising and are never shared with advertisers.
Advertising in the app
Households that have not bought Remove ads see one banner ad at the bottom of the Today and Dogs screens on Android. The ads are served by Google AdMob. The Remove ads purchase, or an earlier Oldie Household subscription, turns the ads off for everyone in the household.
- Personalised ads: where the law requires consent, the app asks before showing personalised ads, and you can change your answer at any time under Settings, "Privacy choices". Where you decline, ads are not personalised. Where consent is not required, Google may use the advertising identifier to personalise ads according to Google's advertising policies.
- Your device controls: Android lets you reset or delete the advertising identifier and opt out of ad personalisation under Settings, Google, Ads.
- What is not shared: your dog's names, health records, photos and letters stay in your household. AdMob does not receive them.
Who we share it with
- Google Firebase hosts the database, file storage, sign-in and push notifications.
- RevenueCat processes subscription status with Apple and Google.
- Google AdMob serves ads to free households on Android, as described above.
- Other members of your household see the records in that household. Leaving a household removes your access; the records stay with the household.
This website and cookies
myoldie.com uses cookies and similar technologies only with your agreement, which you give or refuse in the banner shown on your first visit. You can change your choice at any time from the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
- Google Analytics tells us which pages are read and roughly where visitors come from. It sets cookies only after you accept. Without your agreement, only aggregate counts without cookies are collected.
- Google AdSense may show ads on some pages. With your agreement, Google uses cookies to personalise and measure those ads; without it, any ads shown are not personalised. Google's use of advertising cookies is described at policies.google.com/technologies/ads, and you can opt out at adssettings.google.com.
- Cloudflare serves the site and may set a short-lived cookie needed for security. It is not used to track you.
- Your choice: your answer to the banner is stored in your browser so you are not asked again.
Your choices
- Turn reminders off in the app or in your phone's settings.
- Change your advertising choices under Settings, "Privacy choices", or turn the ads off with the Remove ads purchase.
- Export history and letters from within the app.
- Delete your account yourself at any time, in the app under your name (Delete account) or at myoldie.com/delete-account. Deletion is immediate. Or ask for a copy of your data, or for deletion, by emailing help@myoldie.com; requests are completed within 30 days.
How your data is protected
- In transit: every connection between the app and our servers uses TLS (HTTPS). This website is served over HTTPS only.
- At rest: records and photos are stored on Google Cloud, which encrypts all stored data with AES-256 using keys Google manages. Backups are encrypted the same way.
- Access: server-side security rules allow a household's records to be read or changed only by signed-in members of that household. Membership is granted only through the invite code flow and can be revoked by the household owner.
- Sign-in: passwords are never stored in readable form. Sign in with Apple and Google never share your password with us.
- Payments: handled entirely by Apple, Google and RevenueCat. We never see card numbers.
We use these standard protections rather than end-to-end encryption, because reminders are computed on our servers and need to name the dog and the item. If that changes, this page will say so.
Children
Oldie is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Ads in the app are requested as not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
