Privacy policy

Last updated: DRAFT. This draft describes what the app is built to do. Have it reviewed before publishing.

Oldie is made by Situated Strategies LLC ("we"). This policy explains what information Oldie collects, why, and what your choices are. Questions go to help@myoldie.com.

What we collect

  • Account: your email address and the name you enter, plus a sign-in identifier from Apple or Google if you use those.
  • Household and pet records: the household name, its members, and everything you record about your dogs: names, birthdays, photos, medications, care tasks, vaccines and certificate photos, weights, notes, and the history of who marked what done.
  • Notifications: a device push token so reminders can reach your phone, and your notification preferences.
  • Subscription status: whether your household has an active Oldie Household subscription, provided by our subscription processor. We never see your card details.
  • Diagnostics: crash reports and basic usage counts that do not identify you.

How we use it

To run the app: showing your household its shared records, sending reminders to the right people, delivering birthday letters, and unlocking paid features. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

  • Google Firebase hosts the database, file storage, sign-in and push notifications.
  • RevenueCat processes subscription status with Apple and Google.
  • Other members of your household see the records in that household. Leaving a household removes your access; the records stay with the household.

Your choices

  • Turn reminders off in the app or in your phone's settings.
  • Export history and letters from within the app.
  • Ask for a copy of your data, or for deletion, by emailing help@myoldie.com. Deletion is completed within 30 days.

How your data is protected

  • In transit: every connection between the app and our servers uses TLS (HTTPS). This website is served over HTTPS only.
  • At rest: records and photos are stored on Google Cloud, which encrypts all stored data with AES-256 using keys Google manages. Backups are encrypted the same way.
  • Access: server-side security rules allow a household's records to be read or changed only by signed-in members of that household. Membership is granted only through the invite code flow and can be revoked by the household owner.
  • Sign-in: passwords are never stored in readable form. Sign in with Apple and Google never share your password with us.
  • Payments: handled entirely by Apple, Google and RevenueCat. We never see card numbers.

We use these standard protections rather than end-to-end encryption, because reminders are computed on our servers and need to name the dog and the item. If that changes, this page will say so.

Children

Oldie is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
